  1. Yeah, actually it looks worse after the 'makeover'. Newsflash! Slapping some off white paint on something and scuffing up the edges isn't a really big feat. In fact, it just sort of makes a hot mess of something that was nice. And yes, you made a hot mess out of that cedar chest. What a shame.

    1. I am so sorry you feel that way paula.. I actually get quite a bit of complements on her whole nursery- expecially this post on pinterest! But it is okay :) i dont expect everyone to have the same taste as me. I enjoy looking at it when I walk into my little girls room multiple times a day and that to me is all that matters :)I simply blog and refinish furniture as a hobby. I by all means have never said I was a master refinsher.. And it is a lot of hard work- WAY more than slapping on some paint.. but like the saying goes..one mans trash is another mans treasure. And I am fine with the fact that what I consider treasure (because I put my heart and sweat into doing this piece for my daughter) is trash to you. Everyone has a right to their own opinion. Hope you find some inspiration if not on my blog, somewhere else :)

  2. Wow!! First and foremost, I would like to apologize for the REALLY rude comment that Paula left and at the same time complement you on handling it with class and setting a good Christian example!! You're right when you say, 'one man's trash is another man's treasure'. Albeit that doesn't excuse someone for leaving such a blatantly lowbrow remark. The chest is absolutely gorgeous!! And anyone with any knowledge of furniture can tell you didn't just slap on some paint. What is even more beautiful though is the way you opted to let God's love shine through you. The world is full of people who have nothing better to do with their time than to criticize others' efforts, but people such as yourself are becoming more and more rare. So thank you for setting a great example of how we can always choose how we respond, even when faced with ugliness. Happy is a state of mind, not a product of your environment. I just found your blog today and was already impressed, but reading this post and the subsequent comments has made me a follower!! May God continue to bless your beautiful family....and furniture!!

  3. I would have told Paula to stick it in her ear! This is why I don't blog...

Nice work on being the bigger man, so to speak.
